Description

Complete Targa Top Restoration Kit for Porsche 911 from 1967 through 1993. All parts in the kit are 100% OEM specification including roof skin in original ‘shallow grain’ vinyl for ’67-’73 models or ‘deep grain’ vinyl for models ’74-’93.

Our Targa Top Restoration Kit is probably the best you can buy for originality and fit. The kit includes everything to bring a complete and structurally sound targa top back to factory new condition; Roof skin in light grain vinyl (67-73) or deep grain vinyl (74-93), foam backed nylon headlining, densely woven linen backing cloth and insulation material. We only use the original German materials that exactly match Stuttgart factory specifications. All materials are precision cut, edge bound and pre-formed to guarantee a factory authentic fit.

The kit does not include any hardware or weatherstrips. These are available separately on our website. If you do not find the parts you need, please enquire.

The kit comes with easy to follow step-by-step installation instructions and pictures. Installation requires no specific tools and is within the ability of a home mechanic. For those who prefer to drive their cars rather than work on them, we also offer a targa top restoration service (please enquire).

Targa tops that suffered from water infiltration and older tops usually need replacement of the tension bands at the front and rear of the frame. Tension bands maintain spacing of the aluminium plates and help ensure a good seal to reduce wind noise. The tension band kit includes 2 Sonnenland canvas tension bands and 30 rivets.

For a durable result we recommend to install this kit using thermo-resistant industrial PCP glue.

      Thanks for your question. We have most parts needed for a total targa top restoration either new, used or refurbished. This includes folding arms, side frames, aluminum plates, seals and the lock clips. For the targa top latch (91156503141) we offer a repair service. 

      Our inventory includes some NLA parts for the first generation of "soft window" Targa tops Porsche 911/912 1967-1967, most parts for the second generation Targa tops 911 1970-1985 and most parts for the rolling latch Targa tops 1986-1993 (third generation).

      We also restore about 30 targa tops for our customers every year. The typical restoration includes:

      1. Complete dismantling to the bare frame
      2. Checking frame operation (and correction if necessary)
      3. Sand and repaint frame
      4. Replace the canvas tension band between the alu plates (in bad cases rivets are rusted away)
      5. Replace linen tensioning material
      6. Replace foam isolation
      7. Install new outer skin
      8. Install new headliner

      The typical restoration does not include any hardware or weatherstrips. These can be added if required. Step 4 is not always necessary. All materials we use are OEM Porsche specification. Restoration of your top usually takes 1-2 week.
